Chapter 10 (Nathaly)

Chapter 10 Group Leadership and Problem Solving

Chapter 10 was mostly about group leaders and group solving and working together. The first thing that was mentioned in chapter 10 was about about leadership which the definition is a process "whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal". Most people think that if you are the leader you are in charge with everything about your group and you give them task to do and they follow it, but today we understand that leadership is a set of communication functions performed by any group members based on each's unique strength and expertise, so in short to make a great leader that person needs to communicate with their group members.

Chapter 10 has to do with a lot of what we did for our first presentation and it contributed to our presentation. Our first presentation was done online and using WhatsApp and using google slides so we can edit our own slides and working on it whenever we can without having to feel rushed in the moment and that had to do with a lot communication with our leader. Our leader would check up on us to see if we know what parts we need to complete and if we have completed it. Our leader told us what was the subjects we had to do for our presentation, but let us pick it and if we needed help we can ask each other or the leader for some help about our slides.

Chapter 10 demonstrates us about problem solving and how that contributed to our presentation as well. In the beginning of communication with our group one of our group member couldn't join the google slide and we didn't know until the group member mentioned it and we were able to fix it because of communication and problem solving. That also includes with the problem we came across the day of presentation and how my computer was lagging and and the audio wasn't working on my side because of my computer, but my group members jumped in to help me with the problem and became the moderator so we were able to continue with our presentation. That made me think of how Chapter 10 thought us about problem solving and we were able to show that in our presentation that day to show other group members of how we can communicate with out team members led us to problem solving.

Our presentation wasn't the best, but it wasn't awful I think that thought my group members and I of what to do next for our presentation and what we should suspect for our next presentation. That thought us that that with great leadership we were able to fix the problem. My slides were about generation solutions and how to come up with solutions. One of the examples was brainstorming which means it's an uncritical, nonevaluative process of generating possible solutions by being creative, suspending judgment, and combining or adapting ideas. My slides also demonstrated evaluating the solutions and which ones are the best options to do when it comes to the problem solving. The five methods are the expert opinion method, the average group method, the majority rule method, the unanimous decision method, and the consensus method.

I would like to mention the first group that presented did an awesome job of the way the group leader was in control and went smoothly. The group leader kept contact with the teacher and how he would talk to the teacher and his group members about what the presentation is going to be about and what was to be expected. The group members also delivered a good message to their classmate and how they would describe the video when the class couldn't hear the audio and also the second group did and amazing job as well when it came to presentation had great leadership and thought me a lot of about their subject when they presented it.
