Chapter 10 Saleen

Learning about how to work with group members and learning how to work with one another efficiently is really refreshing. Seeing and experiencing new ways to better not only the group but ourselves is always an important thing to learn. Because of the pandemic, it’s obviously much harder having to communicate with our group members, but thankfully we were able to work through any issues we were having and were able to get our project done. I know that as student, no matter what age, we are taught how to work with our classmates, and group members, and reading the importance of it in chapter 10 shows how serious something like this should be taken, since working, or with others is inevitable in the workforce, and in life in general. Learning more in detail, and having this explained in fine print rather than being told to “work together” I find to be much easier to understand, and again, feel it to be more concrete and crucial, especially during these times where we can’t see each other face to face, and are only stuck trying to help one another through a screen. As someone who works in a fairly large company, communication is very important, and being ahead really shows your bosses that you are prepared and ready for anything. If any of my coworkers kept anything to themselves, whether it be advice on how to be a better employee, or information regarding the actual job, nothing would get done and the company would essentially be at a standstill in productivity, and could not only harm the employees, but the business as well. Communication is awfully important, and communicating with one another not only improves the work efficiency in the other person, but in yourself as well, since this communication can lead to people changing their work ethic and changing how they are able to manage themselves, and an entire group if needed be. I feel that this chapter has truly helped me to understand the importance of having a strong group leader. Someone almost like a manager, that knows how to communicate with others and is always on task. These leaders help keep groups in line and make sure that the work is being completed in time and correctly. They also make sure that the dynamic of the group remains smooth, so that there are no issues amongst group members, and if there are any issues, the group is able to figure out how to solve the issue with ease. This chapter also talks about the importance of problem solving, since it is almost rare to have a group, whether it be in a school setting or work setting, to experience no issues. Because we have become so dependent on technology, it is possible for websites to crash, for experiencing lost wifi, and in some cases not having the correct technology or platforms to do certain things. Being able to work around obstacles like these help build a strong group, since issues like these can help members get to know one another, and learn how each group member solves their own issues and aid in the process of good group dynamics.
