Chapter 3 is all about communication and how different cultures should communicate with each other for example in order to avoid situations that might be considered rude to the other culture. Chapter 3 defines culture as "a system of shared values, beliefs, attitudes, and norms that guides what is considered appropriate among an identifiable group of people" (Samovar, Porter, & McDaniel, 2012).

Chapter 3 explains how behind every culture in the heart of it are its values. The values of a culture are basically what determines right from wrong, good from bad, fair from unfair, and etc. Cultures have 2 sets of values one is ideal values and the other is real values. Ideal values are values people claim to follow for example the laws in the united states don't let you J-walk but most people do it anyways and don't feel wrong about it. Real values are the values that guide actual behavior. Examples of Culture

Chapter 9 focuses on groups and how to successfully interact with each other and identify what type of group you are and how to resolve conflicts it also explains how communication can be verbal or nonverbal.

Chapter 9 explains how good groups have the same ethical goals and how you can rely on your member's strengths and knowledge in order to complete your goal

Chapter 9 also explains how groups develop with the first step being synergy meaning combing the efforts of the members equalling greater performance. That then moves into a stage called forming where members realize what people can be counted on or trusted with certain tasksGROUP COMMUNICATION

Lastly, chapter nine covers group conflicts which I think is a very important topic. It talks about different types of conflict like pseudo conflict where members agree with each other but doesn’t believe so because of miscommunication or a personality conflict where a member might feel offended or attacked most importantly it covers how to deal with these conflicts and move on

Chapter 10 is the chapter my group was assigned to present it mainly covers group leadership how to solve problems and what to do in the meeting. It starts by explaining how to find a leader and what tasks a leader should have. It also covers what you should do before during and after group meetings from the perspective of a leader and just a contributing member. In other words, it covers how to have an effective meeting. After it discusses how to come up with a solution as a group and how to determine if your solution is effective and it explains how to come up with a solution that starts with identifying and defining the problem. Then analyzing the problem or researching about it as much as possible. After you are done you must determine what criteria are appropriate for judging the solution you don’t want to be too extreme but you also want to make sure the problem is completely fixed. One of the final steps is generating many possible solutions by brainstorming being creative and adaptive. Finally when you are done you evaluate what solutions are possible and which one you think will have the best outcome and decide as a group on which plan you will let take action
